The Act

My third album cover for the band: The Devil Wears Prada.
This artwork is loosely based on Dante’s Inferno.
In trying to capture more of an essence of that story and combining elements from it, as well as the grotesque feeling that it invokes.
Cards on the table. I have not read the story, nor had the time to in 
Preparation for this piece. So took partitions of information from where I could before arriving at this composition.
In my concept, the giant humanoid cave dwelling creatures feed on the recently arrived people before eventually becoming a dormant part of the petrified cave architecture. Those humans that manage to evade consumption for centuries, only in turn evolve over millennia to become the next generation of sloth like cannibalistic giants.
